The Oregon Zoo (formerly the Washington Park Zoo) is a zoo owned by the City of Portland, Oregon and it is located inside Portland's Washington Park. The zoo has been fascinating people for over 100 years. It has become very popular with its many exhibits including an African Rain Forest, African Savanna, Predators of the Serengeti, Amazon Flooded Forest, Great Northwest, Asian Elephants, Bears and a Dinosaur exhibit. The Zoo also features Wildlife Live shows! The Oregon Zoo gift shop, called Cascade Outfitters, has zoo souvenirs that can also be purchased online.

The Oregon Zoo has been promoting conservation since the 1800's. They have a breeding program for several endangered species and they release these animals into the wild after raising them. They have an exhibit run by teen volunteers, called the Trillium Creek Family Farm, which is part of the Great Northwest Exhibit, and gives hands-on experience to visitors of all ages.


The zoo is open 364 days a year, but has special winter operating hours. All hours and other special visitor information is available through the official website.[1]

Oregon Zoo Coupons and Oregon Zoo Deals

The Oregon Zoo offers a number of ways to save when visiting. They sell tickets through their website which can be printed and brought to the zoo. They have a special second Tuesday discount rate, currently $4 admission on the second Tuesday of each month. They have discounts for groups of 20 or more - these can be purchased online through their website for 20% off the regular admission price. School groups can enter at the special rate of $3 per student with chaperones free. They have scheduled free days from time to time which are announced through their website, and their Twitter and Facebook pages, as well as their email newsletter. Connecting to them through each of these avenues is the best way to keep up to date on all special rates and free days.


At times, local hotels will offer package deals that include zoo admission. Checking with the hotels or with a travel agent can alert travelers to current deals.
